We live in our minds 24/7, but do we pay attention to the thoughts coming in and the impact they have on our lives? The stream of thought and consciousness flows like a river from the moment we open our eyes until the moment we close them. Most thoughts are either task oriented or seem to run a negative tape in the mind fueling fear and anxiety. Thoughts run like a background program on our computer. Thoughts affect and shape our entire belief system, which then drives behavior. It’s critical to use discernment around what we are inviting into our minds. Many pivotal life decisions are based on thoughts that have no foundation in truth. We criticize and tell ourselves we aren’t enough, we doubt our abilities, we play small and dim our light to make others feel comfortable.
Fear is most prevalent in the mental chatter, but what does it look like? It looks like doubt, jealousy, anxiety, depression, insecurity, or anger. All aspects of fear create negative responses to situations presenting in life. Fear typically creates numbing to bury the stress and pain or controlling behavior to combat the feeling of being out of control. This in turn keeps the individual from dealing with the very thing that is being triggered for release. Instinctually the EGO wants you to run and hide, when in fact, the healing only comes from going into the dark and facing the demons lurking there. Often, fear is far more powerful than the actual issue.
We allow the pervasive and insidious voice of fear to clip our wings and hold us down.
Seeds of doubt (about who we are and what we are capable of) are planted in our psyche until the default program kills any possibility of alignment with personal truth and empowerment. The inner critic creates and manifests a reality that falls far short of the abundant life we deserve. Fear travels into the recesses of the mind like a vapor or mist moving through the forest. Unseen and unobserved it moves with the stealth of a ninja. Major life decisions as well as interpersonal relationships are often based on false perceptions of who we are as a product of the negative seeds planted. The victim mindset burns into our neural pathways creating excuses about why we can’t be who we have come here to be. How many times have we questioned and doubted ourselves? “What if” questions swirl around in our minds about our kids, our future, our financial situation and a million other things creating negative situational responses and negative spin to our lives. Alignment with our personal truth and potential seems so far out of reach.
Many magnificent beings walk this Earth without ever realizing the gifts and talents they possess. People bury their authentic selves denying us access to their incredible gifts. Every person walking this Earth has been given something special to share with the world. Often society has snuffed it out with intention or perhaps cultural expectation. People come into this life as radiant light beings. Slowly over time, the need to blend in and do what is expected compromises all aspects of self until there is nothing left. The light dims and the curtain falls.
The shift can happen by planting the seed of possibility. What if it is possible to ……. (fill in the blank)? What if I am worth more? What if the Universe is for me? What if there is a solution to every problem? How can I change my perspective? What if I have the courage to make a change and survive it? Don’t allow negative thoughts in. Become an observer of your thoughts and recognize negativity, doubt and fear. Quickly sweep them right out of the mind before any emotion can attach to them. Invite positive thoughts and energy in to replace the negative. Imagine who you can be if you release all the fears and doubts that dwell in your mind. Stand fully in your power. Own the truth and align with yourself! It’s not too late! Every day is an opportunity to start coming back to center. I believe in YOU!
Empowerment looks like the decision to turn off the news if it triggers you. Opting out of things that aren’t healthy mentally, physically, or emotionally. Everything is a choice. There’s no obligation to do what other people expect of you. Say no. The blow back might be rough, but you will have a much nicer holiday in the Bahamas instead of with your dysfunctional family, I guarantee you! Take a stand and remain firm in your alignment. When you claim your personal power, the people who manipulate you are going to get pissed off. They will attack you, prey on your emotions, try to guilt you into something or make you feel bad for ruining their holiday. Don’t buy in. Allow all the emotional sabotage to take place and observe it as if you are watching a sitcom on T.V. Then, quietly say thank you for expressing your feelings and change the channel. Hang up the phone. Don’t respond to the barrage of texts. Do what feels right for you. It requires courage to take your power back. You will survive.
