With the new year comes ambitious resolutions. It’s a time to reset and attack all those goals that we let slide last year. People double down on the diets, the marketing for their business, their vow to do better and be better! Vision boards are lovingly created, and dreams are big. I love the enthusiasm and promise of something new. Everything is possible when we are in this mindset. There’s one thing that is overlooked however, which is the foundation on which all these ideas manifest. That foundation is your mindset and alignment with yourself.
We must water our garden to create the fertile soil through which everything grows. This includes feeding our minds and bodies healthy and positive things. The negative thoughts must go, as well as anything that you know to be unhealthy in your life. This requires taking inventory of the words we replay in our minds about who and what we are day after day. Taking inventory of our relationships, including the most important one which is our relationship with ourselves. Ask yourself how does your garden grow?
A garden grows from creating an environment that fosters growth. The soil must be rich and full of nutrients and worms. Perfect soil conditions must exist which means the perfect combination and balance of conditions must be created for beautiful things to grow. The same is true for our minds and bodies. If we are going to create amazing lives and remain balanced and aligned throughout the process, we need to get clear about how to create an environment that supports that. Fueling our bodies and minds with nutritious food is a great foundation. There’s no right or wrong answer around food, check in with yourself and decide what changes you feel are appropriate for you. My suggestion is to connect with someone who is certified and trained in nutrition if you are looking to do a detox or follow a radical food program. There are many body types that require different types of nutrition and supplements.
Water your garden! Drink a lot of water. I had a 20 year Diet Pepsi and Coke Zero habit. I was literally watering my garden with Diet Pepsi and Coke Zero! This was not doing anything for my brain or my body. It took a long time for me to take full ownership of my lifestyle choices and decide to do something about it. Over the course of the last 6 years I’ve given up all sodas, alcohol, caffeine and fast food. I started slowly. I’m currently working on eliminating sugar but that’s definitely hit or miss. I’m the person who goes on a diet and gains 15 pounds because the thought of depriving myself of anything drives me in the exact opposite direction. I learned that about myself in 1987 and haven’t been on a diet since! I have learned though with conscious and consistent effort I can change my life. If I can make changes, I know that anyone can!
Put down the negative thoughts! We are all our own worst critics. There was a study where words were spoken to water showing that water responded to the frequency of the words spoken. Dr. Masaru Emoto studied the impact of words on water. He found that water reacts to music, feelings, pictures, and words. He realized images he photographed in water crystals were impacted by vibration and went on to study and prove his theory. Keep in mind that the human body is largely comprised of water. Running a constant negative tape in your mind about yourself is having a similar effect on you. It is harmful not only to your psyche, but also your physical body. I encourage you to be mindful of your thoughts. Pay attention to the patterns and frequency of your thoughts and feelings, diet, and all other aspects of your life and keep it positive!
