We are here standing on the edge of history, the end and yet a beginning of a new world. This precipice feels like absolute destruction. Many people have lost everything and feel as if their world is ending. What they treasured swept away in pandemic, fire, and flood, in death, bringing clarity around what is important in life. When we are stripped bare, we find out what matters and it is usually not something bought in a store. Our hearts are ripped open and it hurts, the discomfort is too much to express in words or tears. This is the awakening, the marker pointing us in a new direction. We hug our loved ones a little tighter and we feel gratitude for what we have instead of longing for more.
As the pandemic sweeps around the globe, every life is altered. We wear masks in public, work from home, and socially distance from friends and family. Home or online school is the new normal, and couples and families are together 24/7. The stress could break even the strongest among us. The lack of connection and physical contact is hard emotionally for the elderly. Maybe too much time together is hard also. We are all in our boxes on zoom which seems to parallel our life at home. It feels like a marathon as one thing piles on top of another, but this one never seems to end. A hurricane followed by a massive tropical storm brings the wind and rain down, fires are burning. The clearing is obvious. Letting go of the old is never easy, but we must pick ourselves up and focus on creating something new.
As the Earth sheds and releases energy through natural disasters, we are facing our own internal shedding and releasing. We are getting scrubbed, letting go of things, being forced to adapt, and now pressed to find meaning in life. I cleaned every closet and drawer in the house during the pandemic and spent a lot of time in a space of presence. This summer I thought perhaps I retired and forgot to tell myself! I was experiencing mastery in being and observing, I was doing deep inner work. Day after day I connected to myself, to source, God, whatever name you want to assign, and gained clarity around what my values are and what my mission is here on the planet. As I released my attachment to all things, my true purpose was revealed. It is time, I felt and heard in the depths of my soul, it is time to be the person you are meant to be.
The space of crossroads and transitions can be a scary place, but without courage and risk we will continue to remain the same. It is time for all of us to be who we are meant to be. The future is unknown because it is up to us to write the script and create the new world, we are the architects of our lives. The doubt and fear will sink us if we allow it. That rabbit hole is dark and deep. We must conquer our fears because this is GO TIME! We are standing at the precipice knowing that we must jump and trust the parachute will open. Trust the process. Know that all is unfolding as it must and despite the chaos in our lives now, we will transition to our next level of experience. Nothing is permanent, we can always change our minds and change direction. There are literally no wrong turns or wrong answers only detours to our final destinations. Do not fall back into chaos and fear. We design the experience we wish to have in this life. Every choice and pivot point has brought us here to this NOW moment, which leads us forward to the next and the next.
We have been preparing for this moment our whole lives. We possess a deep well of experience to draw from, broken hearts mended, and adversity overcome. The answers are within us. We must use discernment and choose our battles recognizing those that are no longer worth fighting for or holding onto. Some things are not ours to hold anymore, give the personal drama back to their original owners. Everyone must save themselves by healing themselves and reconnecting to their inner being. Our energy is best served being poured back into our dreams and future. Experience is the foundation upon which we can build. Perspective is powerful. Where are we responding from fear? What can we do better?
The key is to be aware that to remain the same is a choice. We are not victims of our history, how we have responded to our history has brought us to our current experience. Excuses are the victim’s way of remaining stuck in the same patterns creating the same unhealthy outcomes. Step into alignment with truth and have the courage to face it. Tame the Ego and be open to change, this writes a new script and creates better outcomes. Remember that no response is a response. Step back, pause, breathe, and give it some time. In those quiet spaces when I step back and reflect, better decisions are made and better outcomes result. Often creating a better outcome requires a different approach. As Albert Einstein once said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”
