Have you ever tried to go to sleep but your mind keeps running in an endless loop? Plagued with your to do list and what if scenarios, you watch the hours tick by while you stress about how much sleep you are losing keeping you up even longer. Have you ever given up on a dream because of the negative thoughts and doubts that keep surfacing? Maybe you are on a spiritual path and as your consciousness expands you experience things that are blowing your mind and you keep telling yourself you are crazy. Whatever the story is, our minds create our reality. Our reality begins with a thought. It is the source of everything we have pursued or created in our lifetime, it is the driving force behind our fitness, our education level, the home we live in, the partner we married or divorced and the career we pursued. At the core we are energy and consciousness.
Our conscious thoughts define us and completely and energetically affect our reality. Let’s talk about some tools around shifting the direction of our thoughts. It’s important to realize our thoughts hold no power over us until we attach emotion to them. Once we attach emotion to the thoughts, then they gain traction in our minds and hearts. Now, we’ve created a story. Now we are allowing a thought that we could have acknowledged and let go, turn into something that holds power over us. People go years allowing their lives to reflect a story that isn’t even true. It could be a story about your weight, your looks, your ability to earn a higher income or the most pervasive one, not feeling worthy. Ask yourself, is the story you are telling yourself about your worthiness, your relationship, or your job based on an opinion of someone else? Is it true? That is the very beginning of the journey back to your true self.
What is the essence of who you really are? Are you an author, a poet, an entrepreneur? Are you a compassionate friend, or the foundation of your family? What empowering statement can you make about yourself? If you aren’t ready to go there, if you were to show up for a friend, what would you do and what would you say? Whatever the answer is to that question is where you begin showing up for yourself. Is it buying yourself a coffee, is it taking 15 minutes a day to just zone out? Slowly, begin to honor yourself. Mindfully begin the reset and creation of a positive mindset. If a negative thought enters your mind, allow it to drift right on through and drop it into a running stream inside of your mind. Allow it to fall away.
For too long, women have been largely undervalued by society. We are the backbone of our families, we hold jobs, we volunteer, we lift each other up, sometimes we tear each other down. However, we are showing up, we are doing our best. The same can be said for men. They have no one to talk to, they aren’t encouraged to show vulnerability or express emotion. Men, are expected to “man up” and deal with their shit. It’s a lonely place and easy to seek refuge from that pressure in alcohol, drugs, sex, or whatever to numb out and deal. In those moments of feeling isolated and stressed, we need to reset and remember that we have the power over our lives. We need to acknowledge that power resides in the mental story we are telling ourselves about ourselves.
Our thoughts and circumstances are presenting opportunities to transcend this suffering and come back to our authentic selves and the light within us. When you begin to examine your thought pattern and view them from a distance, when you recognize we get to choose the direction of our thoughts, we can allow uplifting thoughts into our consciousness. If anyone should be for you it’s YOU! There is no room for negativity here. Life is hard enough without holding ourselves under with anxiety and fear. Let’s cut the strings holding fast to those mental weights and set yourself free.
